Engaging Cognitive Processes Using Materials

Research area 11 of 12 · Project E

Materials play a very important role in defining the characteristics of an architectural space. They are sensed majorly by the visual and tactile senses which are the primary and tertiary senses that a human depends upon. Some materials also provide for auditory and olfactory perceptions if the designer wishes. Much of the spatial experience is monitored by the materials that dominate the space.
