12: Role of Architecture in Individual and Social Disparity

The human race has been categorised and sub-categorised into multiple sections across time. All the divisions and sub-divisions grow into tightly knit communities sharing and growing as a whole. This resulted in social, cultural and political differences among the communities. Differentiation on the basis of gender, age and sexuality are reflected in architectural design in major aspects of spatial contexts. This led to various levels of hierarchies which in turn reflected in the spatial designs of important buildings of the reign. Remnants of these disparities continue to reflect in our architectural and interior spaces.


Brain Sensitive spaces: conscious and inclusive design.

Architecture acts as a medium to aid and assist in the special needs of the human brain.

The role played by architecture and spaces in gender, sexuality and discrimination and equitability.

The role played by architecture and spaces in giving rise to feelings of gender discrimination and equitability in the minds of the experiencer.

The emotions experienced by the minds of the secerned in spaces that have been designed for no one specific.

  • To assess the resultant socio-economic, socio-cultural and socio-geographical footprints.
