07: Role of Architectural Juxtapositioning in Emotional Valence and Arousal

Architectural Spaces are made up of smaller units put together in various combinations to create different experiences. An architectural experience would comprise a lot of factors involving human perceptions. In this study, we break down 'space' into its relevant components to make comprehension easier.


Analysis of the characteristics of spatial contents.

The implication of spatial contents on human sensational, perceptual and cognitive processes; behavioural and emotional patterns.

  • To study the individual elements in a space and the cognitive processes required to perceive these units in seclusion.

  • To understand the influence of the juxtapositioning isolated from the elements themselves.

  • To develop strategies that help formulate designs keeping in focus the interdependence of space and mind.
